Palworld Hits 1.0: Two Years Later, Pocketpair Ships What Looks Like a Second Game
The survival-craft hit that ate January 2024 is finally out of Early Access, and Pocketpair chose to mark the moment with content instead of a price tag.

Palworld reached version 1.0 on July 10, 2026, closing out more than two years in Early Access. Pocketpair shipped it as update 1.100.427, and the studio has been open about the scale: the patch notes run to roughly 27 pages, and the developers themselves have called the release close to a new game rather than a final polish pass. For a title that sold tens of millions of copies while still officially unfinished, that framing is doing some work, but the changelog mostly backs it up.
The headline is that none of this costs existing owners anything. The 1.0 update is free, and Pocketpair did not use the exit from Early Access to raise the price, a decision the studio tied to a player base that has now passed 40 million. In a year where full-priced remasters and season passes are the norm, holding the line on price at the exact moment you have the most leverage is a choice worth naming.
What the 1.0 update actually adds
The content is where the second-game comparison earns its keep. Version 1.0 introduces two new regions, Sunreach and the World Tree, with Sunreach built as a set of islands floating above the base map, kept aloft by Paldium and seeded with its own Pals, tower bosses, and exclusive ore. The Pal roster grows by 72 creatures to a total of 287, and the player level cap moves from 65 to 80, with the technology tree stretched to match and the harder content rebalanced around the new ceiling.
Underneath the new map are new systems. The Awakening mechanic lets you spend Radiant Gems to push a Pal past its normal potential with new moves and higher stats, and a reworked Mutation path gives breeding more to chase. There are 13 new weapons, a rebuilt base raid system, and a long list of multiplayer fixes aimed at the co-op crowd that carried the game through Early Access. Wildlife sanctuaries were reworked into distinct ecosystems with rarer Pals and their own bosses, which gives the endgame somewhere to point players who already flattened the original map.
Why it matters
Early Access has a well-earned reputation as a place where games go to stall. Palworld is the counterexample that will get cited for years: a viral launch that could easily have coasted on its numbers instead spent two years widening the game and then handed the payoff back to players for free. Whether the survival-and-collect loop holds you for another 80 levels is a matter of taste, but the studio has removed most of the reasons to wait.
If you bounced off Palworld in 2024 because it felt thin past the opening hours, 1.0 is the honest moment to look again. It is on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, and it landed on Game Pass day one, so the cost of a second opinion is close to zero.
