Until Dawn 2 Finally Has a Release Date, and a Cast of Ghost Hunters Who Are Faking It

The premise has teeth. You follow Dead True, a group of ghost-hunting YouTubers who dress up hauntings for views, as they take their first properly funded shoot to Akishima, a remote South Pacific island that has sat abandoned since a luxury resort mysteriously shut down in the 1970s. The joke, of course, is that the frauds walk into something genuinely wrong. Sony's trailer emphasized how player decisions ripple outward, which is the whole reason people played the original to death across multiple runs.

Until Dawn 2 was first shown earlier in 2026, so the news here is the date and the deeper look, not the reveal itself, and that date is the important part. It gives PlayStation a marquee horror exclusive to open 2027, slotting in just ahead of a stacked spring. The Dead True framing also lets the series poke at the paranormal-content boom without leaving its own genre. What we cannot tell you yet is whether the branching actually feels meaningful this time or just wide, and no trailer can answer that. That is a verdict for when it is in our hands, not before.
