Final Fantasy VII Revelation Has a Date, and the Remake Trilogy Finally Has an Ending

The extended segment leaned on the promise of a true open world. Square Enix showed traversal aboard the Highwind airship, a new grappling gun for climbing and getting around, and the ability to freely swap your controlled character and your party makeup at any time. The headline mechanic is the new FITS system, which assigns characters roles that map to classic job archetypes: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. Cloud, Cid, and Vincent were confirmed among the playable cast, and the studio said player choices will shape how the story lands.

The base game starts at 69.99 dollars. Digital comes in Standard, Premium, and Premium Plus tiers, and the two higher tiers bundle a Story Expansion Pass that grants two story-focused DLCs planned for after launch. Physical buyers get Standard, Deluxe, and a Square Enix Store exclusive Collector's Edition, with the range topping out at 349.99 dollars. If you care about the extra story content, the split to watch is that it lives in the Premium tiers rather than the standard edition.

Square Enix called Revelation the finale of the trilogy, with the party racing to stop Sephiroth before the planet is destroyed, so this is the payoff for a project that started with Remake in 2020. The April 8 date is pointed, landing two days shy of the seventh anniversary of Final Fantasy VII Remake. It also plants a huge tentpole in a spring window that is filling up fast. One honest note: everything above is confirmed on paper, but a gameplay trailer is a curated pitch, and a spring 2027 date is a target, not a guarantee.
